Fully balanced through verified climate projects
Since 2022, our tour operations have produced 1,500+ tonnes of CO₂. These emissions have been fully balanced/offset through investments in sustainability projects worldwide.
- What that means:
- ~7.5 million miles of petrol car driving (about 300 trips around the Earth)
- Roughly the annual carbon absorbed by ~75,000 trees (a small forest)
- Similar to the annual footprint of ~200 UK residents
- Comparable to ~2,400 long-distance return flights

UK Tree Planting
This project gave us the opportunity to support tree planting in the UK. For every tonne of CO2e offset, one tree is planted, helping to create a lasting environmental benefit beyond carbon balancing alone.
These trees have been planted in the West Midlands and South West England, supporting local landscapes, biodiversity and long-term woodland growth. It means the impact of the project can be seen not only globally, through carbon reduction, but also closer through new native planting.

Protecting the Amazon - Pacajai REDD+ Project, Brazil
We are helping to protect the Amazon Rainforest – the largest remaining rainforest in the world. The Amazon is known for its amazing biodiversity; containing 10% of all species. The rainforest is home to some endangered species that rely on it for their survival.
Our offsets are being used in the Amazon through the Brazilian Amazon Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) project. This is working to prevent unplanned deforestation in native forests, which has occurred due to logging, squatting and attempts to implement pastures. The project is expected to avoid over 22 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions over a 40-year period.

African Biomass Energy Conservation Poa Malawi
This project aims to disseminate over 8,000 improved energy efficient cookstoves to homes in Malawi. The stoves are more efficient and use less wood for household cooking and heating than traditional stoves. They are locally made using local materials wherever possible, resulting in local income generation and the acquisition of new skills for local people.

Buenos Aires Renewable Energy Project
Based in a region prone to poverty and severe drought, this initiative tackles one of the major causes of deforestation in Brazil: illegal logging.
This project alleviates deforestation, avoids greenhouse gas emissions and promotes a more sustainable supply chain: it does this whilst also improving the livelihoods of local communities and employees. Making good, better.

Veer (NLBC) Small Hydro Power Project India
This is a small 4.8 MW hydro power project located at Village Veer, Taluka Purandar, and District Pune, Maharashtra, across the river Nira which is a tributary of Bhima River in the Krishna basin. The water stored by the irrigation project is let down into the two canals on both the flanks of river through separate canal irrigation outlets for irrigation as well as for drinking purposes.
The project is expected to supply around 11.06 million kWh of energy resulting in an average emission reduction of 10,832 tCO2e per year of operation.

Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 2 North Wind Energy Facility, South Africa
The purpose of this project is to supply the wind-generated electricity to the grid of the Republic of South Africa (RSA).The installed capacity of the wind farm is 144MW, and consists of 96 wind turbines and the associated infrastructure.
The total GHG emission reductions at the end of the crediting period are expected to be 4,339,290 tCO2e, annual average GHG emission reductions are 433,929 tCO2e/year.

Kenya Tree Planting
This project provides an opportunity to plant trees in Kenya. For each tCO2 being offset, one native tree is planted in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya.
Over the last ten years, the project in Kenya has planted over 170,000 trees and rehabilitated over 160 hectares of the forest helping in restoring the water catchment ecosystem function of the forest. While doing this, over 20 community members who directly work in the forest make their livelihoods from the project. Many more from their families benefit from being dependent on them.
The project includes an empowerment scheme, where the members are now owners of dairy cows from which they get additional income from the sale of milk to their villagers. The project is strongly focused on empowering women, who make up over 50% of the project team.

Gunung Salak Geothermal Energy Project
Geothermal power plants use steam produced from reservoirs of hot water found a couple of miles or more below the Earth's surface, instead of having to use fossil fuels. The steam rotates a turbine that activates a generator, which produces electricity. It is a natural and sustainable source of energy.
There are over 150 active volcanoes in Indonesia, giving the nation a huge potential for geothermal energy production. Located within the Halimun-Salak National Park, the Gunung Salak project harnesses heat from deep within the Earth to generate clean geothermal power. The project involves an capacity upgrade of three turbines at an existing geothermal power plant from 55MW to 60 MW. This additional 15 MW allows the plant to generate more energy from the same source of thermal steam.
In addition to these projects, we are also supporting Carbon Footprint’s Freedom Flight Prize
The Freedom Flight Prize will be awarded for the first zero carbon emission plane capable of carrying 100+ passengers across the Atlantic. The aim is to generate a multi-million pound prize fund to motivate and accelerate the development of truly sustainable aviation.
